Dr. Edna Mary Chance

In 1921, Dr. Hugh Chester Chance and his wife, Dr. Edna Mary Chance started into chiropractic as pioneers. They were newly married and venturing out to make a new life for themselves. Originally natives of Kansas, Dr. Hugh Chester Chance, a former electrical engineer, decided while attending the Palmer College of Chiropractic, that it was in Davenport Iowa where they would live and dedicate their life to chiropractic. Dr. H.C. Chance was on the Palmer College Faculty Board for thirty years. He worked many long, hard hours in the neurology class and helped students and chiropractors establish new interpretations on what it did, how and why. He wrote and published neurology textbooks for the Palmer College of Chiropractic.

It was then that he was asked to take over the Palmer College of Chiropractic Student Clinic. It was also here that he put into practice all the vast knowledge he had accumulated down through his many years of chiropractic association. "To this great man must go much credit for putting the chiropractic profession where it is today." B.J. Palmer, Developer of Chiropractic.
